Welcome to Advanced Green Technologies

The South Dade Regional Library launched its solar panel array and kicked off a major interior renovation project

On the morning of Friday, May 16, Advanced Green Technologies Team was honored to join Miami-Dade County leaders at the South Dade Regional Library on May 16 to celebrate the completion of the solar array and the kickoff of the library’s major interior renovation. Local leaders including Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, and representatives from the Miami-Dade Public Library System came together to launch a major renovation and modernization initiative at the South Dade Regional Library, located at 10750 SW 211 Street in Cutler Bay. The event also marked the official unveiling of a newly completed rooftop solar array—one of Miami-Dade County’s key pilot programs aimed at expanding solar energy across public facilities.

This solar installation, delivered by Advanced Green Technologies (AGT), a trusted Florida’s commercial solar contractor, highlights the County’s ongoing efforts to invest in sustainable, energy-saving infrastructure. The new system not only supports long-term operational savings but also plays a critical role in reducing environmental impact and supporting clean energy goals.

AGT installed a 246.2 kW DC system featuring 573 high-efficiency panels. Based on the projected annual energy offset of 387,367 kWh, the system’s environmental impact is equivalent to:

  • Powering approximately 32 homes
  • Preventing 275 tons of carbon emissions
  • Offsetting 619,000 car miles driven annually
  • Diverting 95 tons of waste from landfills
  • Planting 4,565 tree seedlings

From energy-efficient lighting to advanced solar technology, this initiative sets a new benchmark for sustainable public infrastructure in our region.
The library will temporarily close on Sunday, May 25, 2025, to allow construction to move forward, with upgrades expected to span approximately 18 months. Originally opened in 1977, the updated facility will feature a wide range of modern enhancements designed to better serve the community, including:

  • A fully reimagined atrium and lobby with integrated tiered seating.
  • A second auditorium to expand capacity for events and programs.
  • Private study rooms and collaboration pods.
