On-the-Job Training (OJT)
A key component of the apprenticeship is the on-the-job training (OJT), where apprentices gain practical experience under the guidance of experienced professionals. Each apprentice is required to complete 2,000 hours of OJT per year, totaling 4,000 hours by the end of the program. This hands-on training is crucial for developing the skills needed to excel in the solar industry.
Flexible Learning Environment
Courses are conducted virtually, allowing apprentices the flexibility to learn from home using a computer, laptop, or tablet. This approach ensures that apprentices can balance their training with other commitments while gaining the knowledge necessary to succeed.
Compensation and Pay Scale
Apprentices are compensated for their time spent learning online, with a pay rate of $12 per hour while logged in. The pay scale is structured to reward progress and skill development:
- Year 1 – Apprentice I: $18-$20 per hour
- Year 2 – Apprentice II: $19-$21 per hour
This competitive pay structure not only supports apprentices financially but also incentivizes continuous improvement and dedication to the program.
