Emmy Awards Go Green with AGT

LOS ANGELES, Sep 13, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- This year the annual Emmy Awards have gone 'Green with Emmy'. As part of the campaign to go green, a solar powered canopy will be built over the grandstand and the red carpet.

 

Advanced Green Technologies (AGT) provided the metal canopy and PVPowered inverters for the project. The solar laminates were brought to the event by United Solar Ovonic.

 

AGT is the world's largest distributor of Uni-Solar laminates and initiated this green effort with Uni-Solar. AGT was able to bring a 13kw project together on short notice for the Emmy awards. Within 7 days, with collaboration between AGT, Uni-Solar and PVPowered , the design was set with a custom data monitoring system which will be seen by the grandstand audience. The structure will measure 90' x 30'.

Part of the project involved the structural construction of the canopy. The canopy was topped by Englert metal panels. AGT is the largest Englert distributor in Florida and connected with partners to build the canopy within a week of dispatching.

 

After the Emmy Awards, the sun canopy will be transferred to the CHIME Charter Middle School, located in Chatsworth, California. It will be reconstructed at the school and serve as an educational experience for students.
